The tradition in Alsace is to eat ‘Munster au Cumin’ which is Munster, obviously, served with boiled potatoes, cumin seeds and a glass of wine. Mmm.

What’s it like? Munster AOC is an unpasteurised, washed-rind cheese that is rubbed constantly in brine for 2 to 3 months to give its rind a distinct rich orange colour.
Where’s it from? This AOC cheese is UNPASTEURISED and is made in the Vosges mountains in Alsace.

I used to have Munster and cumin with crusty French bread and a bottle of Kronenbourg when I was a student in Strasbourg 40 years ago. It is of course very smelly so keep it in an airtight jar. I used to smuggle Munster back to the UK in a jar.
